The government of Ontario has applied changes to OHIP starting September 1st of 2023 in order to increase access to care for those Ontarions who suffer from chronic disease such as diabetes and glaucoma. As a result for Ontarians over 65 , OHIP will decrease coverage.
It is still recommended that seniors have their eyes checked annually however this would mean a self pay exam every 2 years as OHIP will cover an exam every 18 months instead of annually.
