Small incision leticule extraction — or SMILE —   is a refractive surgery that reshapes the cornea and focuses images on the retina to eliminate the need of glasses.  It is a less invasive laser surgery that requires a much smaller incision than LASIK. 

Incisions for LASIK are approximately 14 mm but SMILE is much less at 3 mm.   The smaller incision significantly decreases post surgical dry eye.
